August 23, 2022 -- Hebrews 9:27-28 -- Death Benefits

People loved by the Father, in the Spirit's power: Sh'ma ~ hear and obey Jesus!

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, 28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
Hebrews 9:27-28 ESV

You know the old saying, the only things you can count on in this life are death and taxes. The government will always tax. Death will always come. Many people speak of death disparagingly, but for the Christian, death—when it comes at God’s appointed time—is a blessing. Death signals the end of sin’s hold on a man. Though in Christ right now a Christian is given the righteousness of Christ, still, in his flesh and body he wrestles against sin and temptation. So, death is a release. Secondly, at death Christians see Jesus Christ and are given the great privilege of spending eternity in the presence of the Living God.

Jesus’ death and resurrection are for Christians a sure sign that He will return as the Just Judge and Savior. We live in submission to Him now because we know He will return. We are eager for His return, because sin will finally be thrown down, the Devil and all his hosts thrown into hell, and the New Heaven and New Earth will be here. What glory is yet in store. So we are not courting death, but we will be bold in our witness and unafraid of what others might do to us. We don’t know our future, but we know Him Who holds the future and when we meet Him it is glorious.

Blessed Father thank You that in Christ You have freed us from our sins. Thank You that You are by Your Spirit forging us together to be a kingdom and priests to You, the God of Glory. Thank You for the gift of the Seven-fold Spirit Who guards us in Christ and keeps us in Him so we are receiving all His benefits until that moment when we see You face to face. Amen.
(Prayer is based on Revelation 1:5-7)
