July 18, 2021 -- Isaiah 12 -- Reverberating praise
/In that day you will sing:
“I will praise you, O Lord!
You were angry with me, but not any more.
Now you comfort me.
2 See, God has come to save me.
I will trust in him and not be afraid.
The Lord God is my strength and my song;
he has given me victory.”
3 With joy you will drink deeply
from the fountain of salvation!
4 In that wonderful day you will sing:
“Thank the Lord! Praise his name!
Tell the nations what he has done.
Let them know how mighty he is!
5 Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things.
Make known his praise around the world.
6 Let all the people of Jerusalem shout his praise with joy!
For great is the Holy One of Israel who lives among you.”
Isaiah 12 English Standard Version
What is worship? Consider the beautiful expression of verse 3—it is, with joy, drinking deeply of from the fountain of salvation! What a description. Christians gather to worship and in praising God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the thirst of our souls is assuaged. Worship lifts our eyes so that in faith we see all the LORD has done, is doing, and will do. It is the LORD Who saves a person, and a church full of people. It was the work of Jesus Christ at the cross to stand in our place and take our punishment. Then is it is the Spirit of God Who shows us all the wonderful things the LORD has done for us as individuals, as believers across the globe and across time. The people of God will never die out and there will be faithful witness to our King of Glory that will reverberate across the continents until the day when Jesus returns.
Join the faithful choruses of praise. Get to church if you are able to do so. Join in via whatever livestream platform you can if going to church is not possible for you. Let the praises of the LORD be on your lips and celebration of His majestic glory fill your heart and imagination. Invite a friend to join you. Faith stirs faith and rejoicing is contagious. If your heart is heavy, reach out and ask a brother or sister in Christ to pray with you so that your faith may be encouraged. Consider this as fuel for the fires of praise today: “Great is the Holy One of Israel—that is Jesus—Who lives among you!
