May 7, 2021 -- Matthew 6:11 -- Daily Blessings
/Give us this day our daily bread.
Matthew 6:11
Seems a strange thing to pray. I mean our pantries are full, the fridge has food and we can order meals to be delivered straight to our doors. Why ask God for our daily bread?
Do you remember last year, toilet paper was constantly being sold out at stores? This year wood is crazy expensive. One year to another, one day to the next, we have no idea what the future will hold. But we know Him Who holds the future.
Whatever we have now is a gift from the LORD Who has strengthened us for work, blessed us with abundance. As much as we have can quickly be blown away.
This prayer request is one Jesus taught us to pray. It is to humble us and remind us in all things we are the servants of the High King of Heaven. It is fully within His power and right to give fruitful years or lean, plenty or famine, sickness or health, and all things come from His Fatherly hand and are designed to draw us closer to Himself in urgent prayer.
We are reminded by this prayer, our Faithful Father in heaven gives us everything we need, spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. This leads us to bless Him and praise Him through-out the day for everything and in every circumstance.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name.
Your Kingdom come, Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen,
